Bangkok’s riverside has no shortage of culinary gems, but there’s something quietly magnetic about Riva del Fiume, the elegant Italian restaurant nestled within the Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok.
The moment you step into its airy, light-washed dining room, the hum of the Chao Phraya feels like part of the décor — a steady, graceful backdrop to Chef Andrea’s Un Viaggio tasting menu, a poetic journey through the best of the season.

More than a meal, Un Viaggio feels like storytelling in courses — each plate inspired by memory, nature, and the fleeting beauty of the present moment. Every bite blends Italian authenticity with contemporary finesse, capturing both nostalgia and discovery.
The evening opened with Tonno Tonnato, a jewel-toned akami tuna tartare crowned with Kristal caviar, the delicate richness lifted by a bergamot-scented tonnato sauce. It was followed by Capesante, a dish that was almost painterly — marinated Hokkaido scallops paired with charcoal cherry tomatoes, citrus brightness, and the gentle perfume of fig leaf oil.

From the sea to the grill, Calamari arrived with smoky allure, tender BBQ squid paired with beans, bottarga, a citrus emulsion, and the surprising depth of black lemon. The balance of smokiness, salinity, and freshness was pure harmony.

The pasta course, Cavatelli Gamberi Rossi e Calamaretti Spillo, was a quiet showstopper — perfectly chewy cavatelli cradling sweet marinated red shrimps, baby squid, and tender green asparagus. It was the kind of dish you want to pause for, just to appreciate how each element finds its place.

The main courses revealed Chef Andrea’s dual mastery of seafood and meat. Gallinella di Mare, a grilled red gurnard, came layered with purple eggplant, Parmigiano, and a sauce made from blue belly shrimp — a coastal memory rendered on a plate. Then came the Cappello del Prete Mayura M9, an Australian oyster blade charcoal-grilled to perfection, served alongside girolle mushrooms and caramelised Tropea spring onions, a luxurious yet comforting finale to the savoury journey.

Dessert was a celebration of Italian simplicity and summer produce: Panna Cotta infused with vanilla, topped with Bronte pistachio and fresh figs, its sweetness cut beautifully by a vivid strawberry sorbet.

Chef Andrea’s Un Viaggio is more than a tasting menu — it’s an invitation to slow down and taste the seasons, to savour craftsmanship and memory in equal measure. At Riva del Fiume, dinner becomes an experience that lingers well beyond the last spoonful.
